Marilla Garland
Marilla first went into Residential Letting and
Management in 1989 in London and came back to
Cambridge in early 1994. Having realised early
on in her career that looking after other
people’s properties for them brings a huge
amount of satisfaction, she has concentrated
since 1989 on providing a service that clients
really expect. Marilla Garland Property
Management Limited is in Marilla’s opinion the
best way for her to offer this continued service
to the market place in Cambridge. For many,
Marilla, will be best known for her years with
Hockeys, which was prior to being bought out by
JSM, one of the oldest independent Estate Agents
in Cambridge. Marilla spent 5 years there,
building up a very sound and respected
Residential Letting and Management Department.
It is vital that when we come and visit your
property for the first time, you are able to
benefit from our many years of experience and
for this reason, Marilla carries out all
valuations. It is not just a time to talk about
what the property should achieve on the letting
market, but a time for discussion over marketing
tactics, preparation of the property for letting
out and also agreeing on exactly the right sort
of tenant for the property.

Don Wheeler
Don has been with the firm from the day Marilla
founded it and knows every inch of the business.
Again, another name known to many in the
property world in Cambridge. Don’s customer
care skills and attention to detail are second
to none. Don started as an estate agent many
years ago in Cambridge with Connells Estate
Agents. This put him in good stead to be sought
after to further his career in Catlings
Independent Estate Agents. It was here that he
became a Member of the National Association of
Estate Agents. He honed his customer relation
skills in this busy City Office and was again
head hunted by Hockeys Estate Agents where he
worked before joining Marilla Garland Property
Management Limited.
Working at Hockeys was an ideal foundation as one of
Cambridge's most respected Estate Agents to firmly
cement himself as one of Cambridge's top rate Senior
Negotiators. His firm belief in quality customer
care and attention to detail plus his honest, hard
working ethic naturally put him in good stead when
he moved across to Residential Letting and
Management. There is no doubt that his wealth of
contacts does benefit our clients. |

Charlie Garland
With a steady growth in the portfolio, Charlie
joined the team and has brought a further
element of experience to the company. After a
career in the army, Charlie ran his own property
maintenance company for many years and therefore
is an ideal person for signing off works carried
out by the contractors we use on behalf of our
landlords. Charlie is in charge of carrying out
all the quarterly property inspections and
ensuring that his findings are actioned and
reported back to clients. |

Polly Wylie
Polly joined Garlands in 2008 having come from a
background in Estate Agency and works for the firm
four days a week. Polly has progressed her role and
handles all property maintenance reported either by
Charlie or from tenants directly. She works closely
with the independent contractors we use to make sure
that the right person is called out to attend each
job. It will be very likely that if you phone the
office you will speak with Polly and she will be
happy to help with your enquiry. Polly is Marilla’s
younger sister and brings another “family” element
to the firm. |
